The BMTS Safety Action Plan provides a roadmap for reducing traffic-related deaths and serious injuries throughout Broome and Tioga Counties. Developed using crash data, public and stakeholder input, and the Safe System Approach, the plan identifies priority safety improvements, policies, and programs that will help create a safer transportation system for everyone. It also positions local communities to pursue funding through the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program to implement these recommendations.
The Plan was managed by BMTS, led by a consultant team, and guided by a Steering Committee which included members from the New York State Department of Transportation, local municipalities, and other stakeholders.
